Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on the rise, and very rapidly so. This technology for next-generation intelligence and decision making is permeating every industry and much of human activity. But while the hype is spreading quickly and affecting every industry, business leaders of the world would need to know, ‘Beyond the hype, what can AI do for my business and how can I go about doing so?’

Arthur Chua

Arthur Chua, Chief Executive Officer, Goldbell Group

Arthur Chua is the Chief Executive Officer of Goldbell Group, Singapore’s market leader in distributing and leasing of commercial vehicles. He began his career in Goldbell as a workshop operations executive, rising through the ranks of various divisions to build up knowledge and experience in the industrial vehicle space before taking up the mantle of CEO.

As CEO, Arthur oversees Goldbell’s strategic planning and activities and leads the distribution, human resource and marketing divisions. Under his leadership, Goldbell has seen a 13% compounded annual growth rate of revenue over the last 4 years. He also spearheads Goldbell’s operations set up in Malaysia, Vietnam and Australia to identify opportunities and establish strategic local partnerships that focus on the vehicle and transportation verticals.

Driving innovation within vehicle and transportation industry verticals – namely Sharing Economy, Electric and Autonomous – Arthur is also the Co-Founder & Executive Chairman of SWAT, a dynamic route optimisation engine for Smart Cities which has the potential to transform cities of tomorrow into transport-efficient, people-centric metropolises.

Arthur was one of the youngest members to be admitted into the Entrepreneur Organization (Singapore Chapter) in 2008.

Danny Chua

Danny Chua, Managing Director, CYC International Pte Ltd

Danny Chua is the Managing Director of CYC International Pte Ltd, a company that was established by his father Allen Chua in the 1980s. CYC specialises in tank cleaning, blasting and painting services, primarily in the petro-chemical and oil and gas industries.

More than 5 years ago, CYC embarked on the adoption of technology and wide range of robots to reduce the manpower required in carrying out their cleaning services in hazardous and dangerous environment, thereby improving overall productivity. Such technologies were not easily available as it was a greenfield project in Singapore and the rest of the world. Beyond the elimination of safety and health risks, CYC wanted to create a niche in this sector in Singapore and different parts of the world. Since then, CYC had also successfully carried out their services in countries such as the Philippines and Hong Kong with different oil majors.

In addition, CYC has registered itself with refineries and chemical plants in countries such as Malaysia, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Today, CYC has also patented its methodologies for using different robots to carry out various types of cleaning.

Ryan Yap

Ryan Yap, Head of Growth, YCH Group

Ryan graduated from University of Durham, United Kingdom with a Bachelor of Laws. Prior to joining YCH Group in 2018, Ryan was with Allen and Gledhill litigation department covering white collar crime and employment law. He had the opportunity to advise clients on issues pertaining to amongst other things, regulatory offences and employment disputes.

As Head of Growth of YCH, Ryan focuses on YCH’s alchemy of growth. This constitutes the strengthening of YCH through organic growth, collaborations and M&A strategies. A large portion of Ryan’s work centres on operational excellence. He looks closely at verifying and/or adopting new technologies, exploring cooperative relationships, novel revenue streams and value chains, along with formulating IP-related strategies to assist YCH’s journey into Industry 4.0.

With YCH now transitioning into a third generation family business, Ryan aims to develop new strategies to clearly demonstrate its strong family values and depth of supply chain expertise to bring about inclusive and sustainable growth for all stakeholders.

Annie Koh

Professor Annie Koh, Vice President of Business Development, V3 Group Professor of Family Entrepreneurship, Professor of Finance (Practice), and Academic Director, Business Families Institute, Singapore Management University

Professor Annie Koh is Vice President of Business Development, V3 Group Professor of Family Entrepreneurship, Professor of Finance (Practice) at Singapore Management University (SMU). She is also the Academic Director for two-university level institutes – the Business Families Institute and International Trading Institute.

A notable conference speaker, panel moderator and commentator, Professor Koh is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on New Education and Work Agenda and, a board member of Keppel Prime US REIT, Prudential Assurance Company Singapore Pte Ltd, Singapore Central Provident Fund and Family Firm Institute, Inc. She chairs the Asian Bond Fund 2 Supervisory Committee of Monetary Authority of Singapore and Finance & Investment Committee of GovTech Singapore, and serves as an advisor to startup firms.

A Fulbright scholar, Professor Koh earned her PhD in International Finance from Stern School of Business, New York University (1988), and is awarded the Singapore Public Administration Medal - Bronze (2010), Silver (2016), and the Adult Education Prism Award (2017) for her contributions to the education and public sectors.

Geng Xuesong

Professor Geng Xuesong, Associate Professor of Strategic Management, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University

Professor Geng Xuesong obtained his PhD from the University of Toronto and he is a business professor of Strategic Management at Lee Kong Chian School of Business of Singapore Management University. He has taught several courses related to strategy, strategic change, sustainability, digital transformation and entrepreneurship. He has also been actively involved in executive training programs for large multinational and Singapore companies.

Besides teaching, Professor Geng is an active researcher. His research on innovation, corporate governance, and institutional change has been published in top academic journals. He is also an invited column writer on Lianhe Zaobao for Small and Medium Enterprises. He has had consulting and directorship experience with a few start-up companies and his current industrial experience focuses on digital transformation, green technology and smart city.

Annabelle Chiong

Annabelle Chiong, Deputy Director of Venture Investing, SGInnovate

Annabelle Chiong’s primary areas of focus are investing in early-stage startups, helping portfolio companies to grow, and engaging with corporates to uncover areas of collaboration with startups. Annabelle’s interests lie in unlocking the potential of founders and making a positive impact through technology. Her experience in scaling startups was honed during her time at Grab, where she was an early employee and started two new business units which saw tremendous growth. Before joining the startup world, she was an investment professional at several banks, including JP Morgan and Citi. She holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, First Class Honours, from Imperial College London in the United Kingdom.
