More than 600 participants on SME Learning Cruise

Deputy Director of Business Families Institute (BFI@SMU) Esther Kong spoke on ‘Building Sustainable Family Businesses - Motivations and Strategies’ at the 13th annual ‘SME Learning Cruise’ organised by ShinMin Daily News and The Bosses Network, which attracted 600 participants this year.  She highlighted that through education, engagement and research platforms, BFI@SMU provides learning for business families in topics such as ownership, business succession, and family governance to build sustainability; and shared the strategies adopted by business families to overcome challenges faced, including attracting non-family professionals, and establishing market-driven management systems and processes.  The Guest-of-Honour for the event was Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Finance.  Other than SMU, the speakers came from organisations including SPRING Singapore, Scanteak, Sterling Law Corporation and Tong Chiang Holdings
