Research

Our strength lies in COMMISSIONED RESEARCH SURVEYS and ASIAN CASE STUDIES. In relation to research surveys, we are privileged to provide expert analysis in connection with LGT on its Private Banking Asia Report, and with UOB on two research reports on “Asian Business Families’ Dependency on Asia – Balancing Opportunities and Risks”  and "Riding on Asia’s economic transformation – Growth strategies of Asian business families".

On 26 May 2015, BFI @ SMU collaborated with Deloitte Southeast Asia to design, disseminate and deliver the second commissioned research survey report on "Asian Business Families Governance: Crossing the Chasm for Inter-Generational Change". This research survey on Governance provides insights into the family and corporate governance strategies, platforms and structures which are in place in Asian business families, as well as the extent to which they provide effective and professional platforms for the decision-making – a component that is key to the sustained success of Asian business families.  To date, BFI @ SMU has completed two research surveys and launched two case studies reports on KBZ Group and YCH Group respectively, as part of the collaboration agreement with Deloitte.

BFI @ SMU is also actively involved in the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) Project for Family Enterprising, the first global research study focused on entrepreneurship in business families. Together with business families, BFI @ SMU will be attending the 3rd Global STEP Summit, which will be held in Lugano, Switzerland from 9 to 11 Nov 2017.
