Our strength lies in COMMISSIONED RESEARCH SURVEYS and ASIAN CASE STUDIES. In relation to research surveys, we are privileged to provide expert analysis in connection with LGT on its Private Banking Asia Report, and with UOB on two research reports on “Asian Business Families’ Dependency on Asia – Balancing Opportunities and Risks”  and "Riding on Asia’s economic transformation – Growth strategies of Asian business families". On 26 May 2015, BFI @ SMU collaborated with Deloitte Southeast Asia to design, disseminate and deliver the second commissioned research survey report on "Asian Business Families Governance: Crossing the Chasm for Inter-Generational Change".

The Research Survey Report provides thought leadership on current Succession related sentiments of Business Families as well as the strategies and structures in connection with Next Gen Training and Non-Family Managers and Advisors facilitating these transitions. BFI @ SMU is actively involved in the Successful Transgenerational Entrepreneurship Practices (STEP) Project for Family Enterprising, the first global research study focused on entrepreneurship in business families. Together with business families, BFI @ SMU attends the STEP Summits annually, the most recent being the 2nd Global STEP Summit held in Barcelona, Spain.
